Dentures
Dentures (False Teeth) are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth, supported by the surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Conventional dentures are removable (partial or complete). However, there are many denture designs, some of which rely on bonding or clasping onto teeth or dental implants. There are two main categories of dentures, the distinction being whether they fit onto the mandibular arch or on the maxillary arch.
Complete Dentures:
Complete dentures treatment is a removable prosthesis used to replace all the teeth in the jaw.
What are the consequences of tooth loss?
Tooth loss can lead to a lack of confidence in individuals. Two factors resulting from tooth loss.
1. Due to chewing difficulties patients with no teeth tend to avoid fibrous and nutrient packed foods and compensate for this with carbohydrates leading to nutritional deficiencies.
2. Facial aesthetics is comprised as loss of teeth can make facial muscles sag giving an older and sunken appearance to the face. The loss of teeth can cause poor quality of life.
